Open Excel
1. Open Microsoft Exel. (If already open select <file> then <new>).
2. Save as "OFFICE SUPPLIES".
Filing the area
1. Type "Quantity" in cell A1, "Description" in B1,"Price" in C1, "Total" D1.
2. Move your cursor over the A column heading, clicking this should highlight the entire column.
3. Select the menu labeled <Format>, choose <Cells>, then choose the <Number> tab, choose <General>, then <Ok>.
Text Data-Column B
1. Select the entire B column, select <Format>, choose <column>, then <width>, change this to "15".
Numeric Data-Column C
1. Select the menu labeled <Format>, choose <Cells>, then choose the <Number> tab, choose <Currency>, Make sure that your decimal is "2", then click <Ok>.
Numeric Data-Column D
Repeat the steps of column C.
Resizing Rows
1. Click on row heading 1
2. Select the menu labeled <Format>, choose <Row>, then choose the <Height> tab, change the height to "20" then <Ok>.
Changing the Font, Size, and Style
1, Use your toolbar to change the font to <Times New Roman>, the Size to "12", then select the 'underline' Style. Then <Save>.
Entering Data
1. Type "1" in A2, "Calculator" in B2, "39.95" in C2, then <Save>, select D2 and enter "=A2*C2", highlight cells D2, D3,and D4, then add the following info: [2 notebooks at $6.75 each / 4 pens at $2.19] each, <File> then <Save>.
2. Select cell B6 and type "GRAND TOTAL", then select D6, select <Insert>, <Function>, then <SUM>, and <OK>, a box opens up, enter D2:D4 next to Number 1, then choose <OK>.
